About New Tecumseth, Ontario
Located in central Ontario north of Toronto is the quaint town of New Tecumseth. It encompasses several communities, including Alliston, Beeton, and Tottenham.
Known for its beautiful trails, fantastic golf courses, and rich history, New Tecumseth isn’t a town you want to pass by. Located on 5116 Sir Frederick Banting Road is The Banting Homestead and Heritage Park which celebrates Sir Frederick Banting’s legacy and contribution to medical science after the discovery of insulin. Members of the Banting family lived on the farmstead throughout the late 1800’s into the late 1900’s. The last owner, Edward Banting offered up the property to the Ontario Historical Society and in 2008 the property was sold and bought by the town. The house has since been restored into a historical site where people from all around can learn about and enjoy the works of Sir Frederick Banting.
